The lamp
The lamp that’s always on. It has been on since before the workshop. Possibly before the lamp.

The lamp on the Slopwright’s bench is always on. In Always On it isn’t, and “It looks embarrassed about it.” Fixing it takes oil, a wick and a glass. Once they are in, the Draught blows it out again from upstairs, which is the whole problem.
After the Draught is gone the lamp stays on, and the Slopwright writes “please do not blow” on the attic window, in small letters. A desk lamp also marks every checkpoint in Drip. Whether any of them is this lamp is not on record.
