The lamp goes out
The lamp that’s always on goes out. Always On is about putting it back.

The opening of Always On: the lamp is out. The Slopwright needs three things, none of them in the workshop: oil from the far end of the sardine-tin sea, a wick from the curtain of the walnut theatre, and a glass from the back of the stockroom.
He fits them, and “a cold breath comes down from the ceiling, and it goes out again.” The culprit is the Draught in the attic. Beat it, and “Downstairs, a lamp comes on, and stays on.” The end card says “It’s on.”
