The stockroom

Behind the showroom, or up the workshop, or between runs, or full of crates. Five games go in, and they don’t agree on where it is.

In Always On the stockroom is behind the showroom’s staff door: concrete, orange shelving, a maze. “AISLE 9,000. Please do not sit on the stock.” Mrs Ledger is at the returns desk, and the glass is in a cage at the back. In Backrooms it is the level after the showroom: painted concrete, racking and long strip lights.

In Benchwork “The stockroom” is the first floor of the Slopwright’s workshop, eight rooms of office supplies with the inbox at the top. In Skim the Stockroom is where you spend what you scraped off the vats on new shelves between runs. In Pipe Down it is the second room, and the crates are the point: “Crates in the way. Bonus floor if you go the long way.”

The codex lists them together because the games use the same word. It doesn’t claim they are one room.
