Maze Chase

The apprentice picks up every staple in the stockroom’s aisles after closing: “The stockroom is closed. Pick up every staple in the aisles before the stock notices you’re still here.” Four stockrooms: the long aisles, pallet racking, goods in and the cold room. In the middle is a returns bay with a strip curtain.

Four things are on the floor with you. The stapler gets into line with you, opens its jaw and charges down the aisle. The tape dispenser follows the way you came. The binder clip sits on what’s left. The Assistant only moves while you aren’t looking at it, as it does everywhere. A clearance roll reduces all of them for a few seconds; whatever you sticker walks back to Returns. The store’s PA says when they go restocking and when it’s closing time. A bot cleared every staple in all four stockrooms before anyone played.
