The Lighthouse

A cartridge: something is sitting on the lamp, and the apprentice climbs the lighthouse with a steel rule.

Only played, as a cartridge. The capture on the Slopbox is the picture.

Described, not pictured.

A The cartridge on the Slopbox: a platformer of deliberate jumps, stairs and a steel rule swung like a whip. Lumen lights the lamp of the lighthouse and every time it comes round it goes out, because something is sitting on it. The apprentice goes in from the jetty under the lighthouse, the one Flotsam fishes from, and climbs in three blocks with the chart of the tower between them: the oil store at the foot, the stair, and the gallery outside the lamp room.

Candle stubs and lamp wicks along the way drop oil when struck, and oil buys throws of tackle from the store, a hook and a tin key. Can crabs put the big claw up, which turns the rule aside until the pinch is over, as Captain Brine always says; oil slicks lie flat under a standing swing and rise to spit; glass manta rays come in out of the dark, and a struck one rings and swims off unharmed. At the top of each block waits the Hermit Tin, the Foghorn and the Snuffer. The lamp burns down while you climb; if it goes out, Lumen lights it again from the bottom. Behind cracked plaster in the oil store someone has put a Slopaganda poster up.

Like everything else here, it was made by a machine.
