Ballast
A cartridge: the sardine-tin submarine sinks down the tin in the floor, shelf by shelf, to the bottom.
The sardine-tin submarine goes down the sardine tin of oil that Make Do: Deep End sinks in the workshop floor. Through the tin’s side go the layers of under the floor: the floorboards, the fluff, the drawers, the back of a stockroom, the cellar of brick and Slop, and the bottom of the tin, which nothing gets through. Oil slicks drift in the way and gum the ballast; can crabs walk the shelves and the bottom among the oil drums, and put the big claw up when the sub comes close. Signed by the Slopwright, which is to say made by a machine.
A lander for the Slopbox, small enough for a handheld: the sub sinks unless you blow ballast, which costs air; the propeller steers and tips it; five shelves and the bottom must be landed on slowly and level, and each landing tops the air up. Three dents and the tin keeps it. The music is Dust Settling, from Tinny. This entry is proposed by the codex and is not canon until approved.
