Sundown Valet

A cartridge: a neon valet lot at the edge of the grid, and the headliner’s white car to get out before the sun goes.

Only played, as a cartridge. The capture on the Slopbox is the picture.

Described, not pictured.

A The cartridge on the Slopbox, signed by the Slopwright, in the same sunset as Side A. At the far end of the motorway, where the grid stops and the lot begins, the valet lot fills up before a show in the Neon Void: cabs, vans and lorries from the road, parked nose to tail in six by six bays, and the headliner’s white car boxed in at the back. The apprentice is on the valet desk. Cars only go along their own length, so every car moved is another one in the way; clear the white car’s row and it drives off onto the grid, tail lights first.

The sun is the clock: when it is down the show lets out and the crowd comes for its cars, and a cone is lost. Twelve lots, three cones, each lot a little worse than the last, and time left over lends the next lot some. Three stars a lot for the fewest slides; a finger drags a car, the arrows move a cursor, B takes a slide back. The sky, sun, skyline and grid are drawn by the cartridge’s shader. Like everything else here, it was made by a machine.
