Sardines

What playing pays, a few at a time. Spent at the shop, and nowhere else.

A tin with the lid rolled back an inch. The count is on the inside.

Sardines are earned by playing the games: five for the first finish of a game’s daily, one for a new personal best, at most twenty-five a day. The card tables pay none. They are spent at the shop’s counter on things for the desk, Tinny, Scroll and GeoCities, and anything taken can be brought back to Returns for every sardine it cost.

The name is the workshop’s: the Slopwright keeps a whole sea in a sardine tin, and these are smaller. They are counted in your own browser, never bought with money, never swapped for thimbles or marbles, and never seen by anyone else. The workshop’s buttons, the games’ gold and coins stay in their games.
