The shop’s counter

The counter at the front of the showroom, kept at shop.slopped.site, where Sardines, Thimbles and Marbles are spent on things for the desk, Tinny, Scroll and GeoCities. Everything on it is the display model, as the showroom would have it: everything on display, nothing in stock. You take the display model home. It doesn’t mind.

The Assistant is behind the counter, and only moves while you aren’t looking at it; look back and it is somewhere else. Returns is at the back: the returns desk, where the bell is never answered and Mrs Ledger waits as a customer. Anything goes back for everything it cost, any time. The counter is lore the codex has proposed, around a shop that is real; nothing on it costs money.
