Lap it up
A kart racer on the Slopwright’s bench. Six karts made from what was lying about, three laps each, after hours.

Six karts made from what was on the bench, raced round it after hours: a sardine-tin racer, a matchbox, a walnut shell, a thimble, a cotton reel and a jar lid, each on four buttons for wheels. The game doesn’t say who made them, or who drives.
There are four tracks, each run either way round: across the bench top under the lamp, round the Vats on steel walkways, in and out of the card drawers of the archive, and on plank roads over the sardine-tin sea. All four in a row, with points for places, is the egg cup.
