Slopoween

A season of Fresh slop that goes up in October and comes down again on the first of November.

An underground station has been overgrown by huge twisting vines, and glowing carved pumpkins hang from them over the wet platform and tracks. The ticket barriers are holding up the roots.

Slopoween is a made-up season, made by machine like everything else here: Fresh slop with pumpkins in a subway, cobwebs in a car wash and a moon in every washing machine. It hangs on the wall only in October, by the date on whoever is looking, and comes down on its own on the first of November. Nobody has to take it down.

Out of season the pieces are put away, not thrown out. A link to one still opens it, with one line saying it is back in October. Scroll, the games, the desk and the walk through Meinong’s jungle carry on without it; the jungle’s field guide keeps the pieces on file all year, because a thing that is not there in May is still filed.
