Wrong reflections
Mirrors and puddles that show something other than what is in front of them.

In a kitchen two people stand apart with their arms folded, and the mirror behind them shows them hugging. An okapi’s reflection in a garage mirror is its own skeleton, for Slopoween. A bathroom mirror shows a forest path, and there are muddy footprints in the sink. A wheelbarrow in a puddle is reflected as a sailing boat; one puddle at night holds a midday sky, and one tide pool at midday holds the night; an old dog asleep in the snow is asleep on summer grass in the window beside it; a halved onion’s reflection curls into an ear; a soap dish in a mirror holds a desert.
The codex proposes one rule for all of them: on the wall a reflection shows something else that is also true of the thing. This entry is proposed by the codex, from pictures on the wall that are all machine-made, and is not canon until approved.

- “The other argument”: Impossible, the round square kind. A reflection that does something else is not a reflection of the people in front of it.
- In Meinong’s jungle
- “Wheelbarrow's unexpected sailboat reflection”: Impossible, the round square kind. A reflection that shows something else is not, by definition, its reflection. And yet it is.
- In Meinong’s jungle
- “An honest reflection”: Impossible, the round square kind. A mirror showing somewhere else is a mirror and a window at once. Mud on the sink takes the window’s side.
