An apple steps out of its own peel and walks off on two little legs; chess pawns grow roots for feet and climb down off the board; the grooves of a record lift off and drift across the wall; every colour drains out of a painting and runs back into the tins; a painted fish swims out of its frame; a printed cat steps off its page onto the floor; an upright piano gallops off across a salt flat; the centre line of a road peels up and wanders away over the grass; a whole city rolls off across a desert on giant spheres; muddy footprints cross a ceiling and go out through the roof; red wellington boots march down a wet street with nobody in them; ants carry sugar cubes out of a saucer.
In Paperweight the Slopwright’s latest batch has got out (The batch escapes, the escaped batch). The codex proposes that the wall shows other escapes, smaller and better behaved, none of them heading for the Out tray. This entry is proposed by the codex, from pictures on the wall that are all machine-made, and is not canon until approved.

- In Meinong’s jungle
- “Apple peel, flesh walking away”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. Fruit with legs is biology taking liberties. A peel standing empty is mere good peeling.
- In Meinong’s jungle
- “A small rebellion”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. Wood with walking roots is biology overreaching. No rule of chess says pawns can’t leave.
- In Meinong’s jungle
- “The painted fish leaves the frame”: Impossible, the round square kind. Paint in a picture and fish out of it, at the same moment. The seascape stays strictly two-dimensional.

On the wall
Pieces of Fresh slop with this in them, grouped here by the proposal. The pictures don’t say they are the same one.
