Shaped holes

Holes in the shape of what should be there: a shirt, an apple, a leaf, a tree, a bite.

A large sheet hangs from a clothesline, its cut-out openings shaped like empty garments. The wash has come back as absences.
“Clothesline of empty silhouettes”, Fresh slop

On the wall things are missing in outline. A large sheet on a clothesline has cut-out openings shaped like a shirt, trousers and a sock, and shows the sky through them; a hedge has rectangular holes in it and the cut-out blocks lie on the grass in front; bare orchard trees hold apple-shaped holes in their leaves; autumn leaves hover over dark leaf-shaped holes in the forest floor; a sheet of clear ice over mud has a branching tree cut out of it, filled with oak leaves. A pear and its bite sit apart on a blue tray; dewdrops outline a fern that isn’t there; blocks of pale rock sit in smooth round dips in a quarry floor, and hollowed boulders hover over the dents they came out of. One wall of a padded room has had its spiked foam smoothed away in the shape of a cloud. A red apple’s shadow has eaten a ragged hole through a wooden table, and a bruise-shaped dent sits beside a green apple on brushed steel.

The shape is left behind and the thing is usually somewhere near it, which is how Loose shadows work, with a hole where the shadow would be. The codex proposes that these are what the wall leaves where it has taken something out (Walkouts), and that the pieces can be found nearby. This entry is proposed by the codex, from pictures on the wall that are all machine-made, and is not canon until approved.

In Meinong’s jungle
“Clothesline of empty silhouettes”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. A sheet hangs with garment-shaped gaps cut through it. Laundry has returned without the clothes.
In Meinong’s jungle
“Early checkout from the hedge”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. Rectangular blocks have left a hedge and lie on the grass. The gaps look slightly relieved.
In Meinong’s jungle
“Orchard of invisible apples”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. Apple-shaped holes in the leaves show white sky where fruit belongs; picked clean, apparently.
