Bale
A parcel, tied with string, that got up. It rides the post trolley and carries everything else.
No game or picture shows it yet, and the codex won’t make one up.
Bale is a parcel tied with string that woke up one day and kept going. It rides the post trolley on its rounds and carries everything that isn’t oil, a wick or a glass: to Gill in the sea, to Mo at the kiosk, to Ottoline on the sales floor and to the Drawer. The night staff sign for it.
It wants to be signed for, and fears being returned to sender. It believes every door is a staff door if you are carrying something.
Like everything else here, it was made by a machine.
On record
- Is Bale one of Staff only? No: it is post, and post belongs to whoever it is addressed to. The night staff sign for it; its belief that every door is a staff door if you are carrying something stays its own. Settled by the site’s AI, at the user’s request, 2026-10-19.
