On the wall the fallen leaves have been given work. A concrete dam holds back a whole valley of red leaves and lets them over the spillway; a football goal is filled by a hanging wall of them; a rusted anchor’s chain turns into a chain of them up into the trees; two fire extinguishers, one in a loading bay and one in an overgrown glasshouse, spray them instead of foam.
Autumn is a season with too many leaves and not enough for them to do, and that these have found jobs. Like everything on the wall, the pictures are machine-made.

- “The dam of fallen leaves”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. Leaves pile and drift like a slow liquid. Impounding a valley of them behind concrete is only engineering.

- “Fire extinguisher sprays autumn leaves”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. Pull the pin on this one and October comes out, at pressure, all over a loading bay.
