Straight through
Things that pass through solids and leave no crack: bread, granite, a table, a lock.

On the wall the solid thing doesn’t mind. A basketball goes through a hole in a giant slice of bread; a red beach ball pokes out of both sides of a granite boulder with no crack in the stone; a yellow canoe passes straight through a rough boulder with its halves on either side; red striped straws stand in a glass on a diner table and poke out through its underside; a blue butterfly’s wing slips through a rusted padlock; a silk ribbon passes through the teeth of a large industrial saw; a dandelion grows through a rusted bucket; a dachshund stretches through a small gate opening with its two ends on opposite sides; a locomotive squeezes through a keyhole in a concrete wall; pine needles cross a solid branch shadow; a green lizard and its plaster impression merge on a turquoise wall; a white rabbit burrows through a heavy red theatre curtain; a pigeon stands beside a photograph it appears to have torn through.
The codex proposes that this is the odd doors on a smaller scale: the wall has let go of what a solid is for, and a thing goes through if it is the right shape. This entry is proposed by the codex, from pictures on the wall that are all machine-made, and is not canon until approved.

- Status
- Proposed by the codex, waiting for approval
- On record since
- 26 October 2026 (a real date: the day it was first added to the codex)
- In Meinong’s jungle
- “Yellow canoe through stone”: Impossible, the round square kind. A solid canoe and a solid boulder occupy the same place. Both are stated to be hard; the picture cannot keep that up.
- In Meinong’s jungle
- “Beach ball through granite”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. From both sides of a boulder with no crack emerges a red beach ball. The rock denies involvement.
- In Meinong’s jungle
- “Blue locomotive through a concrete keyhole”: Impossible, the round square kind. Full size on both sides and thin as a key in the middle. A train cannot pass that hole without being two widths at once.
