The jotter
A spiral-bound jotter. Whatever is written in it stays on the desk it was written on.

Notes, in the Tools folder on the desk: as many notes as fit in the biscuit tin, each with a title, in plain words or a little markdown. It never runs anything written in it, which is more than can be said for most of the workshop.
