Heavy feathers

Feathers on the wall that outweigh what they are put against: steel, a freight wagon, an anvil, a stone.

A huge freight wagon hangs from one side of a crane, balanced against a single feather on the other. The math is having a quiet day.
“Freight wagon outweighed by a feather”, Fresh slop

On the wall a feather wins. A bank of white feathers is pressed into a sheet of steel by a factory press, and another bank pours from a chute and lays an iron beam over; a freight wagon hangs from one arm of a crane, balanced by a single feather on the other; an anvil sinks into a heap of feathers; a feather lies at the bottom of each of four small craters in grey sand, and another on a boulder that has folded in the middle like a cushion; every seat in an empty theatre tilts toward one on the red carpet; a feather hits a steel ball and the ball splashes. An anvil floats on a string over a salt flat like a balloon, and a trumpet is stuffed with a whisper’s worth.

The codex proposes that a feather on the wall weighs whatever it needs to, and that the soft things it lands on give way first. The trumpet is a sound with a body and counts there too. This entry is proposed by the codex, from pictures on the wall that are all machine-made, and is not canon until approved.

In Meinong’s jungle
“Freight wagon outweighed by a feather”: Impossible, the round square kind. A feather balances a freight wagon on a crane. The scales have taken the day off.
In Meinong’s jungle
“Anvil yielding to feathers”: Possible, the golden mountain kind. A black iron anvil sinks softly into a heap of feathers. It found the one seat that does not ring.
In Meinong’s jungle
“Feathers forged into steel”: Impossible, the round square kind. White feathers emerge from a press as a solid steel bar. The metal remembers its softer ingredients.
